Walter Savage Landor. Nació el 30 de enero de 1775 en Warwick, Warwickshire, Inglaterra. Abandonó la Rugby School y la Universidad de Oxford por desacuerdo con la autoridad de estas instituciones. Su primera obra poética fue Gebir (1798) donde destaca el poema ' Rose Aylmer ' (1806).
