Jean-Louis Forain (Reims, 23 de octubre de 1852 - † 11 de julio de 1931) fue un pintor e ilustrador francés en la órbita de Toulouse-Lautrec, a quien en realidad precedió como observador de la vida moderna.
Jean-Louis Forain (23 October 1852 – 11 July 1931) was a French Impressionist painter and printmaker, working in media including oils, watercolour, pastel, etching and lithograph. Compared to many of his Impressionist colleagues, he was more successful during his lifetime, but his reputation is now much less exalted.
At 17, Forain led a bohemian life and, during the 1870 Franco-Prussian War, he took part in the defence of the fort of Montrouge near Paris. With his anarchist soul, he sympathised with the Communards who took control of the government in the aftermath of France’s defeat.
