Jack Butler Yeats RHA (29 August 1871 – 28 March 1957) was an Irish artist and Olympic medalist. W. B. Yeats was his brother. [1] Butler's early style was that of an illustrator; he only began to work regularly in oils in 1906. [2] .
Jack B. Yeats, painter, was born at 23 Fitzroy Road, London, youngest child of the artist John Butler Yeats and Susan Yeats (née Pollexfen). He spent his early years moving with his family between London, Dublin, and Sligo as his father struggled to establish himself as an artist.
Jack Butler Yeats was the most important Irish painter of the 20th century. His scenes of daily life and Celtic mythology contributed to the surge of nationalism in the Irish arts after the Irish War of Independence (1919–21).

4 de sept. de 2021 · Coinciding with the 150 th anniversary of the birth of one of Ireland’s most important artists, this exhibition explores the role of memory in Jack B. Yeats’ life and work. From his earliest forays into oil painting, Yeats was unusually reliant on memory and retrospection.
