N. G. Majumdar. Nani Gopal Majumdar (1 December 1897 – 11 November 1938) was an Indian archaeologist who is credited with having discovered 62 Indus Valley Civilization sites in Sindh including Chanhudaro. [1] Early life and education.
Mr.Majumdar has contributed a good deal to exploration of archaeological sites in Sindh and unearthed the pearls of history lost in the dust of time. He was engaged in the excavations of Jhukkar mound near Larkana and then he worked on various areas of Kohistan including Johi and Sewhan.

Chanhudaro is about 12 miles east of present-day Indus river bed. Chanhu-Daro was investigated in 1931 by the Indian archaeologist N. G. Majumdar. It was observed that this ancient city was very similar to Harappa and Mohenjadaro in several aspects like town planning, building layout etc.
Anjan Mukherji writes that according to Majumdar’s partner and eyewitness Krishna Dev, N. G. Majumdar was killed and Mr. Chetterji (a teammate) lost his arm. His dead body was brought to hospital in Dadu city.
