General Sir Redvers Henry Buller, VC, GCB, GCMG (7 December 1839 – 2 June 1908) was a British Army officer and a recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.

He entrusted the main assault to Major R H Buller with 400 mounted troops and some irregulars, while other troops were deployed elsewhere on the mountain. At dawn on 28 March 1879 Buller’s force began to make its way up the eastern slope of Hlobane.
