Hon. Nelson S. Roman was born July 29, 1960 in New York City with Puerto Rican ancestry. He was raised in the Bronx and attended Cardinal Hayes High School. In 1982, he became a New York City Police Officer and served for nearly eight years while attending school.
Nelson S. Roman is a judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He joined the court in 2013 after a nomination from President Barack Obama. At the time of nomination, he was a judge on the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First Department.
