Ghirmay Ghebreslassie ( Ge'ez: ግርማይ ገብረስላሰ, born 14 November 1995) is an Eritrean long distance runner. He won the 2015 World Championships in Athletics marathon in Beijing, China, becoming the youngest winner of the race at age 19 and became the first Eritrean to win a gold medal at the World Championships.

22 de ago. de 2015 · Sixteen years after Haile Gebrselassie made history by becoming the first runner to win four world titles in the 10,000m, his near-namesake Ghirmay Ghebreslassie was in the spotlight in the opening competition of the IAAF World Championships, Beijing 2015.
Ghebreslassie was a surprise winner at the 2015 IAAF World Championships Marathon, battling the Beijing heat to claim victory in 2:12:28. At 19 years of age, he became the youngest winner in IAAF World Championships Marathon history, and his gold medal was Eritrea’s first ever at the championships.
