Christopher John Spedding (born Peter Robinson, 17 June 1944) [1] is an English guitarist and record producer. In a career spanning more than 50 years, Spedding is best known for his studio session work. By the early 1970s, he had become one of the most sought-after session guitarists in England.

They were a musical family, with Chris singing in the church choir and studying violin. The arrival of skiffle in 1956 quickly found the youth enthralled with rock’n’roll. A natural guitarist, he moved to London in 1961 and began playing in dance bands that performed the popular hits of the day.

The story goes that Chris met Lennie Singleton (who became rhythm guitarist with the Vulcans) at a Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee concert in Sheffield. Chris and Len may have known each other from school but they got talking and found that they each played guitar.
