A khanate or khaganate is a type of historic polity ruled by a khan, khagan, khatun, or khanum. [1] [2] Khanates were typically nomadic Turkic , Mongol and Tatar societies located on the Eurasian Steppe , [3] [4] [5] politically equivalent in status to kinship-based chiefdoms and feudal monarchies .
Khanate was formed in 2000 after Stephen O'Malley and James Plotkin met at a Isis concert in NYC by way of Dave Witte (of Discordance Axis ), and met up with members of the black dirge band Shadowcast. Shadowcast was a black dirge group that existed in 2000.
The Chagatai Khanate, or Chagatai Ulus was a Mongol and later Turkicized khanate that comprised the lands ruled by Chagatai Khan, second son of Genghis Khan, and his descendants and successors.
