Rumpole and the Golden Thread is a 1983 collection of short stories by John Mortimer about defence barrister Horace Rumpole. They were adapted from his scripts for the TV series of the same name. [1] The stories were: "Rumpole and the Female of the Species". "Rumpole and the Genuine Article".
Rumpole of the Bailey is a British television series created and written by the British writer and barrister John Mortimer. It starred Leo McKern as Horace Rumpole, a middle-aged London barrister who defended a broad variety of clients, often underdogs.
Rumpole travels to Naranga to defend a one-time student, David Mazenze who is charged with murdering Bishop Kareele. What Rumpole finds is a client who is in unusually good spirits, living in relative luxury at police headquarters and who is without an alibi.
