Like other singer/songwriters--Jimmy Webb, Steve Goodman, Leiber & Stoller--my sense is that Pat Alger is often the Man Behind the Curtain in the Musical Land of Oz.

27 de sept. de 2022 · Of the many number one country hits Brooks has racked up, Pat Alger wrote no less than four of them. He’s also written very successful songs for the likes of Kathy Mattea and Nanci Griffith and been covered by artists such as Lyle Lovett and Dolly Parton, to name just a few.
First was "Love at the Five and Dime", written and originally recorded by Nanci Griffith on her 1986 album The Last of the True Believers. Following it was the title track , " You're the Power ", and " Train of Memories ".
The song was initially recorded in 1985 by Nanci Griffith, and included on her album The Last of the True Believers. Songwriter Pat Alger played guitar on both Griffith's and Mattea's albums, and recorded his own version for his 1991 album, True Love & Other Short Stories.
