Thomas William Schuman (born January 31, 1958) [1] is an American jazz pianist, smooth jazz keyboardist and was the longtime co-leader, composer and arranger [2] of 13 Grammy nominated contemporary jazz group, Spyro Gyra.
His all-star studio cast included keyboardist Tom Schuman and Trinidad born drummer/percussionist Bonny B (both Spyro Gyra). Among the players were also saxophonists Paul Taylor, Andrew Neu, and Will Donato, bassists Eddie Reddick, K.T. Tyler, and Yes' Billy Sherwood, as well as Moody Blues keyboardist Alan Hewitt.

In his copious free time, he has still managed to record with artists such as Steve Oliver on a pair of albums, Positive Energy and 3-D, and Al Williams III on 2008’s Heart Song.
Some readers first and foremost might know Tom Schuman, being the Keyboarder of the legendary Jazzband Spyro Gyra. And indeed, for over 35 years, Tom Schuman has been a member of this band, which - with its distinctive sound - opened the door for a totally new genre in Jazz: Smooth Jazz.
