Elton is clearly passionate about this, but does not let it get in the way by being preachy or anything. He captures the distress and exhaustion of campaigners beautifully, and the way the system is stacked against anything changing.

  3. This Other Eden is a very funny book. It takes things to the extreme about what could happen if rich businessmen wanted to make money out of the end of the world. Based some years in the future, Ben Elton creates the scene of a world in environmental chaos, where the human race has destroyed the earth, and the end is nigh.

There are those who say that's planetary treason, but who cares what the weirdos and terrorists think? Not Nathan. All he cares is that his movie gets made and that there's somebody left to see it.
