Owain ap Gruffydd (c. 1354 – c. 1415), commonly known as Owain Glyndŵr or Glyn Dŵr (pronounced [ˈoʊain ɡlɨ̞nˈduːr], anglicised as Owen Glendower), was a Welsh leader, soldier and military commander in the Late Middle Ages, who led a 15-year-long revolt with the aim of ending English rule in Wales.

The followers of Owen Glendower, the medieval Welsh nationalist leader who disappeared in around 1415, firmly believed that should Wales be in any danger from the English, he would return and free them from oppression. His name is still remembered and revered today.
