AGGREGAT is Sharp's new trio with bassist Brad Jones and drummer Ches Smith, and is probably the closest to a jazz group that he's ever done! Working from melodies, rhythmic cells, and conceptual approaches, improvisation expands upon the compositional cores.
2 de sept. de 2022 · Aggregat is an ongoing project of composer/multi-instrumentalist Elliott Sharp and is manifest on this album as a trio featuring bassist Brandon Lopez and drummer Don McKenzie in a set of mostly-improvised pieces that rely on the real-time decision-making and virtuosic spontaneous expressivity of all three participants.
Here’s the third Aggregat opus in which Elliott Sharp continues to go beyond the limits of the two previous releases of this project and again playing only saxophones and clarinets. The first Aggregat was a trio with Brad Jones and Ches Smith with Sharp’s unique guitar voice adding to his horn work.

Leaving the guitar behind, the bandleader sets the tone by extracting great sounds from his clarinets and saxophones.
