Elizabeth Gibson Chifley (1 August 1886 – 9 September 1962) was the wife of Ben Chifley, the Prime Minister of Australia from 1945 to 1949. Chifley was born Elizabeth Gibson McKenzie in Bathurst, New South Wales, to George and Isabella McKenzie. She was the eldest of their two daughters, Lizzie and Annie.
Elizabeth McKenzie and Joseph Benedict (Ben) Chifley married on 6 June 1914, when they were in their late 20s. Both had been born in Bathurst, New South Wales, and they lived there all their lives. Their own home at 10 Busby Street was a small stone cottage given to Mrs Chifley by her parents.

Chifley married Elizabeth McKenzie (known as "Lizzie") on 6 June 1914. She was the daughter of a more senior railways employee, George McKenzie. The couple began courting in 1912, but had known each other since childhood. [73]
