Conceived in 1909 by the Indiana Knights of Columbus, and named for Fr. Pierre Gibault, the Gibault School for Boys was dedicated on October 9, 1921, in Terre Haute, Indiana as a "home for wayward boys". The first director of the school was Rev. Michael Gorman.
I was treated with Dignity and Respect at Gibault. The tools given to me were compassion, forgiveness, loving care, and thoughtfulness to my fellow students. His mother sent him to the Gibault School for Boys in Terre Haute, Indiana. Gibault was a school for juvenile delinquents and was run by Catholic priests. A Childhood Behind Bars. Charles Manson fled Gibault twice. The first time returning to his mother who only sent him back.
Founded in 1921. Today, Gibault serves boys and girls and has provided life-changing opportunities for over 10,000 children and their families.

From the original Smith Mansion, Gibault has grown to become a beautiful 360-acre campus. Gibault has expanded services from treating only “wayward boys” to providing a variety of residential and community-based treatment services to all genders, children, families, and members of the community.
