Richard Campbell "Ric" Smith AO, PSM (born 8 March 1944) is a former senior Australian public servant and diplomat. He served as the Australian Ambassador to China (1996–2000), Australian Ambassador to Indonesia during the time of the 2002 Bali bombings (2001–2002), and Secretary of the Department of Defence (2002–2006). Ric Smith has served as our Chief Technology Officer since March 2021. Prior to joining us, Mr. Smith served in various leadership positions at Medallia, Inc., a customer experience platform company, including as Senior Vice President of Engineering, from January 2016 to March 2021.
Ric Smith has served as Australian ambassador to Indonesia, secretary of the defence department and special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Ric Smith is the CTO of SentinelOne. Ric has over 18 years of experience in the tech industry, with a focus on engineering and product management. Smith started their career as an associate software engineer at Lockheed Martin Information Technology in 2002.
