- About Us
Ludgrove School is an English independent boys' preparatory boarding school. Ludgrove was founded in 1892 at Ludgrove Hall in Middlesex by the Old Etonian sportsman Arthur Dunn. Dunn had been employed as a master at Elstree School, which sent boys mainly to Harrow, and intended to nurture a school that focused on preparing boys to enter Eton.
About Us. There are two mantras of Ludgrove life: ‘Be kind’ and ‘Be the best you can’ and our motto ‘whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with all thy might’ Ecclesiastes IX v.10 is as true today as it was when the school was founded in 1892.
We welcome pupils who live overseas provided that they have a UK-based guardian and the right to study in the UK. Ludgrove has a licence, issued by UK Visas and Immigration, that enables us to sponsor a small number of Child Student visas.
Ludgrove School is a small and friendly school for boys aged 8 to 13, set in a large plot with excellent sports and indoor facilities. The school offers a traditional and creative education, with no formal entrance exam for Year 4 entry.

As a fortnightly boarding school, it is vital that boys feel happy, secure and relaxed upstairs. Our Houseparents, Mr and Mrs Pinchin-Hughes are at the heart of Ludgrove life, and they are responsible for maintaining a happy and calm routine upstairs.
