Wills Hall is one of more than twenty halls of residence in the University of Bristol. It is located high on the Stoke Bishop site on the edge of the Bristol Downs, and houses c. 370 students in two quadrangles. Almost all of these students are in their first year of study.
A HISTORY OF WILLS HALL. Wills Hall is named for Henry Herbert Wills (1856-1922), a philanthropist and businessman, a member of a family of tobacco merchants prominent in Bristol and a family ultimately responsible for the foundation of the University.

Wills Hall was built between 1925 and 1929 as the first dedicated residence for male students of the University of Bristol. It became a mixed hall in 1985. It was officially opened by Winston Churchill in December 1929, although the first 150 residents had arrived on 4 October that year and were already firmly ensconced.
A will is a legal document that sets forth how a person wishes his assets to be distributed after his death. To be valid, an Ohio will must be submitted to an Ohio probate court. Once this occurs, it becomes a public record which can be accessed by any member of the public.
The building was originally built as a German singing society's hall in 1899, the same year that J. Walter Wills came to Cleveland. It later housed a Hungarian immigrants' hospital and a Jewish school.
