Ged Foley. Profile: Ged (Gerard) Foley is one of the Celtic world's most accomplished and celebrated guitarists, known for his powerful tune accompaniments and delicate melody playing. Growing up in County Durham in the northeast of England, Ged (pronounced 'Jed') absorbed the area's rich tradition of folk song and dance music.
The House Band was a musical group formed in Edinburgh in 1984 by musicians Ged Foley (vocals, guitar), Jimmy Young (smallpipes, flute, whistle), Iain Macleod (guitar, mandolin) and Chris Parkinson (melodeon, keyboards, piano accordion and harmonica).

A consummate musician and extraordinary entertainer, Ged Foley always gets it just right. Since 1989 Ged has lived in Athens Ohio, where he has twice been recognized by the Ohio Arts Council, receiving awards under their Master Artists Program.
