In mathematics, division by zero, division where the divisor (denominator) is zero, is a unique and problematic special case. Using fraction notation, the general example can be written as a 0 {\displaystyle {\tfrac {a}{0}}} , where a {\displaystyle a} is the dividend (numerator).
One can argue that 0/0 is 0, because 0 divided by anything is 0. Another one can argue that 0/0 is 1, because anything divided by itself is 1. And that's exactly the problem! Whatever we say 0/0 equals to, we contradict one crucial property of numbers or another.

Mathematicians have never defined what it must mean to divide by zero. What is that value? And the reason they haven't done it is because they couldn't come up with a good answer. There's no good answer here, no good definition. And because of that, any non-zero number, divided by zero, is left just "undefined." 7 divided by 0. 8 divided by 0.
We define division by zero in arithmetic to be splitting a set of objects in to equal pieces. For example if we have \(15\) apples and we want to evenly distribute it to \(3\) people,then by definition of division each student would receive \(\frac{15}{3}=5\) apples each.
