It's a Desert Out There... is the eleventh studio album by the Caretaker, an alias of musician Leyland Kirby. Released on 8 December 2017, Kirby composed it after the death of his collaborator, Mark Fisher, who died by suicide on January 13, 2017 at age 48.
It's a desert out there... is a tribute by The Caretaker in memory of and for Mark Fisher, a good friend of Leyland Kirby who had committed suicide on January 13, 2017. Released as a single track, it is the longest song ever produced by the Caretaker and the longest out of all of Kirby's aliases.
