Izumi Kyoka's novel, Onna keizu (Genealogy of Women, 1907) was dramatized by the Shimpa (New School) theater group and performed in the following year. They added a scene set in the precincts of Yushima Shrine to the original text, focusing on the story of Tsuta and Chikara for dramatic effect.
