  5. Operation Ares. Today I started reading A Martian Odyssey by Stanley Weinbaum. It immediately reminded me of Operation Ares by Gene Wolfe, because on page one it mentioned 'the Ares expedition'. Rather obvious but still. Was Wolfe familiar with Weinbaum?
