개요 [편집] 현대자동차 의 전륜구동 기반 준중형 세단. 1995년 3월 16일부터 울산광역시 북구 양정동의 울산3공장에서 생산하고 있으며, 아반떼 MD부터는 미국 앨라배마 주 몽고메리 현지공장 에서도 함께 생산하고 있다. 쏘나타, 그랜저 와 함께 현대자동차를 대표하는 3대 세단 라인업 중 하나이다. 아반떼 자체가 엘란트라 프로젝트의 연장선이었고, 외국에서는 계속 엘란트라 의 이름을 달고 판매하고 있다. 그래서 현대자동차에서는 엘란트라 시절을 공식적인 아반떼의 역사에 포함시키고 있음은 물론이고 대한민국의 각종 자동차 프로그램에서도 미국이나 유럽의 자동차 프로그램과 마찬가지로 엘란트라 를 아반떼의 역사에 포함시키고 있다.
