Hace 5 días · The structure of benzene has been of interest since its discovery. German chemists Joseph Loschmidt (in 1861) and August Kekule von Stradonitz (in 1866) independently proposed a cyclic arrangement of six carbons with alternating single and double bonds.

Frühe Ideen wie die von Albert Ladenburg vorgeschlagene Prisman-Struktur und das von James Dewar neben anderen Strukturen beschriebene Dewar-Benzol erwiesen sich als Fehlschlüsse.
Hace 4 días · In 1865, August Kekulé, based partially on the work of Loschmidt and others, established the structure of benzene as a six carbon ring with alternating single and double bonds. Kekulé's novel proposal for benzene's cyclic structure was much contested but was never replaced by a superior theory.
