Hace 3 días · Henry Stanley, dying in 1598, was succeeded by his eldest son Edward, created a baronet by Charles I in 1627. He was buried at Ormskirk 4 May, 1640, being succeeded by his son Sir Thomas Stanley, born in 1616. Sir Thomas took a prominent part in the Civil War, upon the Parliamentary side.

Hace 4 días · Henry's son-in-law John Lumley, Lord Lumley, held the manor in 1558 or 1559, but Henry granted it to the Crown in 1560. In 1609 the Crown granted the manor to George Salter and John Williams, and by 1610 it had passed to Sir George Huntley of Frocester who sold the borough of King's Stanley in 1617.
Hace 5 días · John Egerton was bishop successively of Bangor (1756–68), Lichfield (1768–71) and Durham (1771–87). He is shown by the ratebooks for 1759–69 as in occupation of the house. His residence probably terminated in 1768 on his translation to the see of Lichfield.
