17 de jun. de 2010 · This short history of Pembroke College, Cambridge appeared in 1936, during a particularly successful period for the college in terms of both academic and sporting achievements. Pembroke was founded in 1347, when Edward III granted Marie de St Pol, widow of the Earl of Pembroke, a licence for the foundation of a new educational establishment in the young University of Cambridge.

The third-oldest college of Cambridge and originally endowed by Marie de St Pol, Countess of Pembroke and founded 1347. The college Gatehouse is the oldest in Cambridge, dating from the 14th century. Admittedly Pembroke doesn’t have the grandest buildings in Cambridge, but the Old Court and the Neo-Gothic tower are impressive.
24 de ago. de 2022 · The Pembroke College Foundation Inc., was organized in 1984 at the suggestion of then-Master Sir Roger Bannister to help financially support Pembroke College, Oxford (est. 1624) and nurture Pembroke’s community of North American alumni. The Foundation was the very first, independent, tax-exempt (501c3) organization specifically created to support an individual college of Oxford University.
