McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971) was iconoclastic and offbeat director Robert Altman's acclaimed revisionist western (or "anti-western" according to some) about the American frontier. It was the first of his two myth-busting westerns (the second was Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson (1976)).
The shrewd Mrs. Miller, a professional madam, arrives soon after construction begins. She offers to use her experience to help McCabe run his business, while sharing in the profits. The whorehouse thrives and McCabe and Mrs. Miller draw closer, despite their conflicting intelligences and philosophies.
