She was one of seven daughters of Ann Sanderson and Francis Robinson. Her father came from a humble background, his father plying his trade as a carpenter.

Annie Louisa Swynnerton (1844–1933) Gallery Oldham. Painter, née Robinson, born in Kersal, near Manchester. Annie, as she was known, studied at Manchester School of Art, in Paris and in Rome where she met and married the Manx sculptor, Joseph Swynnerton in 1883, living in the Eternal City until his death in 1910.
Annie Louisa Robinson Swynnerton (Kersal, 26 de febrer del 1844 – Hayling Island, 24 d'octubre del 1933) fou una pintora anglesa coneguda sobretot pels seus retrats, obres simbolistes i paisatges. Estudià a la Manchester School of Art, en l'Acadèmia Julian i a Roma.
