Vincent van Gogh was establishing an entirely fresh Post-Impressionistic style as he advanced toward the day of his death at the age of 37. On 27 July 1890, Vincent van Gogh was shot in the stomach, and passed away in the early morning of 29 July 1890 in his room at the Auberge Ravoux in the village of Auvers-sur-Oise in northern France.

Vincent Willem van Gogh (født 30. marts 1853 i Zundert i Nederlandene, død 29. juli 1890 i Auvers-sur-Oise i Frankrig) var en hollandsk maler. Han er en af de mest betydningsfulde kunstnere i europæisk kunsthistorie. Van Gogh nåede at male ~900 malerier og ~1100 tegninger i en periode på 8 år, inden han døde.

Vincent Willem van Gogh (30 March 1853 – 29 July 1890) was a Dutch post-impressionist painter. His work had a great influence on modern art because of its striking colours and emotional power. He suffered from delusions and fits of mental illness. When he was 37, he died by committing suicide.
