Biography Family. Lord Milford Haven is the elder son of the 3rd Marquess of Milford Haven and Janet Mercedes Bryce, the older brother of Lord Ivar Mountbatten and a descendant of Queen Victoria, Catherine the Great, Alexander Pushkin, and Abram Gannibal.At the death of his father on 14 April 1970, he became the 4th Marquess of Milford Haven and head of the House of Mountbatten.
History. The marquessate of Milford Haven was created in 1917 for Prince Louis of Battenberg, the former First Sea Lord, and a relation by marriage to the British Royal family, who amidst the anti-German sentiments of the First World War abandoned the use of his German surname and titles and adopted the surname Mountbatten, an Anglicized version of the surname Battenberg.
