I was having issues getting the game to launch at all--I tried everything the official website says to: run Steam as administrator; run the game as administrator; shut down background processes; update windows.
If your PC (Steam) copy of Dishonored 2 is not launching after pressing Play, is stuck at the "Preparing to Launch" text box or is running in the background but not actually launching, you should first try restarting your computer and Steam and trying again.
NotTheRealPain. • 2 yr. ago. this was an issue when the game came out, and nearly 5 years later the issue still persists. I'm trying to play the game in 2022 and it just runs in background and never opens, I've tried everything suggested by bethesda, running in admin, verifying file integrity, reinstalling, everything.
14 de nov. de 2016 · Dishonored 2 won't launch after pressing play. I've verified integrity of game cache, I've ran in compatibility mode and with admin privileges but still nothing. When I click launch the game says "running" for about 10-15 seconds before it goes away.
I opened up my taskmanager and was watching it when starting dishonored 2 on my second monitor. First it starts, it appears in my processes with like 14% cpu usage and it takes like 70mb of RAM but then nothing more.
Disable Steam cloud support for the game, delete the config files, and re-launch the game so it creates new ones. Try to run it in DX11 instead. Make sure your antivirus isn't blocking it from running.
