The way vocals are mixed and occasionally distorted make for an even more alien sound. If you don't look up the lyrics they're almost impossible to understand, for me at least. So because of this you can make them mostly whatever you want and personal to you too (at least its fun for me to do that).

I’m sure there’s many ways to get this vocal effect. If I were to try I would do the following (YMMV): treat the vocal as normal, then add pretty heavy handed multiband saturation/distortion on the midrange of the vocal (saturating the highs and lows that much will produce extremely harsh resonances)
