The Flash is an American superhero television series developed by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Geoff Johns, airing on The CW. It is based on the Barry Allen incarnation of DC Comics character the Flash, a costumed superhero crime-fighter with the power to move at superhuman speeds.
Barry Allen is the fastest man alive, and the second speedster to be called the Flash. Using his superspeed powers, he taps into the Speed Force and becomes a costumed crime-fighter. He is a founding member of the Justice League.
The second incarnation of Barry Allen, also known as "Barry-1", is introduced in Arrow and would subsequently appear in The Flash (2014), portrayed by Grant Gustin.
Barry Allen and the new Flash were created by writers Robert Kanigher and John Broome and cartoonist Carmine Infantino. The Silver Age Flash proved popular enough that several other Golden Age heroes were revived in new incarnations (see: Green Lantern ).

Barry Allen is the second incarnation of The Flash, the fastest man alive. Using his super-speed powers, he taps into the Speed Force and becomes a costumed crime-fighter. His position is a legacy in the Flash Family, successor to the original Jay Garrick and predecessor to Wally West.
