When first arriving at Blue Lock, he was member of Team Z during the First Selection. He was eliminated from Blue Lock's main route during the final games of Second Selection, but instead of leaving the facility, he walked into a mysterious "Wild Card" door that was open to him.
It's a program for those who are eliminated from Blue Lock. They walk down the hall and then there are two arrows pointing down two corridors. One is to walk out of the facility all together, the other points down a corridor to this door labelled 'Wild Card'.

The Wild Card is more than likely some way of introducing redundancy into the system, by recycling waste. As Ego said, it's a 'loser's bracket'. The people eliminated up to that point are the 'waste' of the system that is Blue Lock. Ego rounded up the waste and found a way to make it useful.
