Melvins (sometimes the Melvins) are an American rock band formed in 1983 in Montesano, Washington. Their early work was key to the development of both grunge and sludge metal. Primarily a trio, they have also performed as a quartet, with either two drummers or two bassists.
Swans have been cited as an influence by a variety of extreme metal and rock musicians, including members of Napalm Death, Godflesh, Melvins, Neurosis, Nirvana, Tool, My Dying Bride, Leviathan, Weakling, Khanate, Liturgy, and Car Seat Headrest.
Melvins es una banda estadounidense de sludge metal, originaria de Seattle y formada alrededor del año 1983 en Montesano, Washington por Buzz Osborne (guitarra, voz), Matt Lukin y Mike Dillard . Dale Crover se les uniría posteriormente.
Negados a repetirse, Melvins va rotando sus miembros y estas distintas configuraciones generan rótulos acordes a esos momentos. Por eso, los Melvins “convencionales” son distintos a Melvins Lite o a Melvins 1983, por ejemplo.
