It is a modification of the original Sonic 3 and Knuckles game, which was released for the Sega Genesis console in 1994. The modification includes new levels, graphics, and gameplay mechanics, as well as a new story in which the character Sonic is possessed by a demonic entity called Sonic.EXE.
Knuckles the Echidna is a protagonist in Sonic.exe: Nightmare Beginning and Sonic.exe: Nightmare Beginning Remake, and an antagonist in Sally.exe Continued Nightmare and Sally.exe Continued Nightmare: Eye of Three. He is voiced by DarkBox.
