Glenn Gould – arguably the conservatory's most outstanding pupil – studied theory, organ, and piano, graduating at the age of 12 in 1946 with an ARCT diploma of the highest honours. [12] In 1947, King George VI awarded the conservatory its royal charter in recognition of its status as one of the Commonwealth 's greatest music schools. [7] .

5 de jun. de 2024 · Glenn Gould was a Canadian pianist known for his contrapuntal clarity and brilliant, if often unorthodox, performances. Gould studied piano from the age of 3, began composing at 5, and entered the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto at 10, earning its associate degree in 1946.
At age 10, he began attending the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto (known until 1947 as the Toronto Conservatory of Music). He studied music theory with Leo Smith , organ with Frederick C. Silvester , and piano with Alberto Guerrero . [13]
