  3. On 13 December 1984, Robert Rauschenberg (1925-2008) stood before the United Nations to announce his intentions for the Rauschenberg Overseas Culture Interchange (ROCI), an ambitious and unprecedented project conceived for 'making and exchanging art and facts around the world.'

  4. This series was created for the final Rauschenberg Overseas Culture Interchange exhibition, ROCI USA, held at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., in 1991. Made at both Saff Tech Arts, Oxford, Maryland, and Rauschenberg’s studio in Captiva Florida, these works were executed with "fire-wax” (the term Rauschenberg coined for encaustic).

  7. The final Rauschenberg Overseas Culture Interchange (ROCI) exhibition, ROCI USA, opened at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., in May 1991. Rauschenberg’s artworks from each of the ROCI venues were exhibited along with a selection of his photographs taken during his travels.
