Bugatti Type 57SC Gangloff Drop Head Coupé (1937) de la colección de Ralph Lauren. El Type 57S/SC es uno de los automóviles más conocidos de Bugatti. La «S» significa «surbaissé» («rebajado»).
The original Type 57 was a touring car model produced from 1934 through 1940. It used the 3.3 L (3,257 cc; 198 cu in) engine from the Type 59 Grand Prix cars, producing 135 hp (100 kW). Top speed was 153 km/h (95 mph). It rode on a 3,302 mm (130 in) wheelbase and had a 1,349 mm (53 in) wide track.
Bugatti Type 57 S Gangloff Atalante. Some of Jean Bugatti's standard Type 57 designs were available on the shorter and lower 'S' chassis, including the Atalante two-door coupe of which the featured s/n 57501 is an excellent example. It was completed in 1937 and remained in France.
1936-1938 Bugatti Type 57S Atalante. With its streamlined styling, low-slung chassis and supercharged engine, the Type 57SC Atalante is one of the most desirable Bugattis. It was personally designed by Jean Bugatti as a two-seater sports coupe and became the rarest of the four different body styles offered by Carrosorie Bugatti.
The 57S sported a lowered center of gravity using dry sump lubrication. The 3.3-liter straight eight-cylinder engine is supercharged and produces over 200 horsepower. 17 Atalante Coupes were produced. This car carries a custom body by Gangloff and is presented exactly as it was in 1937.

Bugatti chose the name deliberately for this extremely sporty version of the Type 57 with its two aerodynamic bulges at the rear, resembling the contours of an aircraft. Coachbuilder Gangloff from Colmar, who built much bodywork for Bugatti, was responsible for this beautiful design.
