La Universidad Politécnica de Dresde (en alemán Technische Universität Dresden o TUD) es, con aproximadamente 35 000 estudiantes y unos 4000 empleados, la escuela superior más grande de Dresde, la Universidad más grande de Sajonia y la universidad politécnica más grande de Alemania.
La Universidad Técnica de Dresden es la más importante del Estado federado de Sajonia y una de las más grandes de Alemania. Es una de las 11 instituciones alemanas calificadas como " universidad de excelencia " ( Exzellenziniciative) por el gobierno federal.
La Universidad Técnica fue fundada en 1828 con el nombre de “Institución Técnica-Educativa” y es, por tanto, una de las universidades técnicas más antiguas de Alemania.
