Rhys Gryg ("Rhys the Hoarse"; died 1234), real name Rhys ap Rhys, also known as Rhys Fychan ("Rhys the Younger"), was a Welsh prince who ruled part of the Kingdom of Deheubarth.
He was the fourth son of the ' lord ' Rhys ap Gruffydd (1132 - 1197), by Gwenllian, daughter of Madog ap Maredudd of Powys. He was an unreliable man, who rebelled against his father, played off one of his brothers against another, and played off king John against Llywelyn ap Iorwerth.

He was a son of Rhys Gryg (died 1234) ("Rhys the Hoarse"), son of Rhys ap Gruffydd (1132–1197),"The Lord Rhys", ruler of the kingdom of Deheubarth.
Rhys usually acted with his eldest brother Gruffydd against their volatile younger brother, Maelgwyn. On Gruffydd's early death, he took control of cantref Mawr. At first he supported king John, but in 1211 changed sides, joined Llywelyn ab Iorwerth, and stormed the royal castle at Aberystwyth.
