Major General Charles Gore Hay, 20th Earl of Erroll, KT, CB, DL (7 February 1852 – 8 July 1927), styled Lord Hay until 1891, was a Scottish soldier and Conservative politician.

Erroll was the son of William Harry Hay, 19th Earl of Erroll, and his wife Eliza Amelia, daughter of General the Hon. Sir Charles Gore.
William George Hay, 18th Earl of Erroll, 1st Baron Kilmarnock KT (1801–1846) married Lady Elizabeth FitzClarence (1801 1856) illegitimate daughter of King William IV by his mistress Dora Bland ("Mrs Jordan").
By the early 20th century, especially with the inflation and taxation that came with the First World War, the Aberdeenshire estates were under serious pressure and Charles, 20th Earl, reluctantly disposed of Slains in 1916, ending a 600 year association with the area.

William, eighth of Erroll, became a peer of parliament as Lord Hay in 1429 and his successor, another William, was belted Earl of Erroll in full Parliament by King James II in 1452, raising the family to the highest rank in the land at that time.
On his death in 1704, his son, Charles became the 13th Earl of Erroll. Charles died unmarried in 1717, when the title devolved on his sister, Mary. Mary Hay, 14th Countess of Erroll died in 1758 without issue.
