Anton Ritter von Schmerling (* 23. August 1805 in Wien; † 23. Mai 1893 ebenda) war österreichischer Politiker und Jurist. Im Jahre 1848 diente er als Reichsminister in der Provisorischen Zentralgewalt, der ersten gesamtdeutschen Regierung. Von 1860 bis 1865 war er österreichischer Regierungschef .

De tendencias liberales y contrario a Metternich, fue jefe del Gobierno (1848) y ministro de Justicia (1849-1851). Siendo ministro de Estado (1860), dictó la ley de 26 de febrero de 1861, centralista y opuesta a las reivindicaciones húngaras.
