Animation, interviews, motion graphics and archive are combined in this innovative, mould-breaking documentary which imagines the history of poverty as a never-ending dream – nightmare.
What can we learn from generations of failed efforts? Using a combination of animation, archival material, live action, anecdote, and humor, Poor Us looks at mankind’s periodic efforts to alleviate poverty with the hope that we will get a better sense of how to move forward.
A selection of scenes from the feature documentary Poor Us; a film that takes the viewer through thousands of years of poverty. For this film I directed the roughly 32.5 minutes of animation, creating storyboards and concept art, overseeing art direction and animation production.
