Robert French is an Australian lawyer and former Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia. He is also a judge of the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal, a chancellor of the University of Western Australia, and a supporter of Indigenous rights and republicanism.

6 de oct. de 2023 · Robert French, who retired as Australia’s most senior judge in 2017, used a speech to the National Press Club to urge Australians to vote to enshrine in the constitution a so-called Indigenous Voice to Parliament at an Oct. 14 vote, the nation’s first referendum in a generation.
Robert Shenton French is the current Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia since 2008. He was a judge of the Federal Court of Australia, a president of the National Native Title Tribunal, and a member of the Australian Law Reform Commission.
Robert French is a former Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia and a current Adjunct Professor at UWA Law School. He has published articles on legal topics such as executive power, judicial co-operation and sustainability, and participated in conferences and events on constitutional law and cryptocurrency.
Robert French was appointed Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia on 1 September 2008 and retired from that office on 29 January 2017. He is a graduate of the University of Western Australia in science and law.
