Sooni Taraporevala (born 1957) is an Indian screenwriter, photographer, and filmmaker who is the screenwriter of Mississippi Masala, The Namesake and Oscar-nominated Salaam Bombay!, all directed by Mira Nair.
Sooni Taraporevala was born and schooled in Bombay, India. In 1975 she received a scholarship to attend Harvard University as an undergraduate. At Harvard she studied English Literature, Film and Photography.
