The Oslo National Academy Norway’s largest public institution of higher learning for artists and designers. We offer 21 study programmes within the fields of fine art, design, art and craft, opera, dance, theatre and arts education.
The Norwegian National Academy of Arts ( Norwegian: Statens kunstakademi) was a former Norwegian tertiary institution in Oslo, offering studies in the area of fine art. Along with four other academies, it merged to form the Oslo National Academy of the Arts ( Norwegian: Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo, KHiO) in 1996.
The academy’s roots are in a studio-based tradition of art making, as the basis for experimenting with new ways of making, discussing and exhibiting art. Working across a variety of media, materials and approaches, our students explore what it means to be an artist in the twenty-first century.

The Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO) is an art academy in Oslo, Norway, that provides education in visual arts, design, and performing arts. KHiO is situated next to the river Akerselva, where the Academy rents a total space of 43,000 m 2 (460,000 sq ft).
The Oslo National Academy of the Arts currently offers 24 study programmes, and consists of six departments: Design, Art and Craft, The Academy of Fine Art, The Academy of Dance, The Academy of Opera, and The Academy of Theatre.
